Art Tatum
| 1910年10月13日にオハイオ州トリドに生まれる。先天性白内障で片目は全盲、もう片目も何度も手術を受けてかなり回復したが、少年時代に強盗と格闘の末回復した目を殴られて視力のほとんどを失ってしまう。記憶力が抜群で、絶対音感を持っていた。1932年にニューヨークに進出。1938年にはロンドンで公演し、成功する。1940年代ごろからTiny Grimes,Slam Stewartとのトリオで人気を得る。1956年11月5日、尿毒症にてなくなる。享年46歳。 |
