Bobby Timmons
Robert Henry "Bobby" Timmonsは1935年12月19日、Pennsylvania州Philadelphiaに生まれた。祖父より教会の牧師で、幼いころより教会のオ ルガンに親しんでいたという。
（叔父の教えでミュージシャンになったという記載もある。）Philadelphia音楽院で音楽を学んだ。21歳のころプロとして活動するようになった。
1955年にプロ活動を開始した後、1956年にKenny DorhamのバンドJazz Prophetsに参加、同年5月に初レコーディングを果たした。
1956年4月にはChet Bakerのバンドに加わり、57年1月まで継続した。同年、Sonny StittやMaynard Fergusonのバンドでも活動した。
1958年-1959年にはJazzz Messengersに参加して活動した。
1959年-1960年にCannonball Adderleyのバンドで活動したが、1960年にJazz Messengersに復帰した。
その他、Chet Baker、Hank Mobley、Lee Morgan、Donald Byrd、Kenny Burrell、Sonny Stitt、Maynard Fergusonらと共演した。
肝硬変のため、1974年3月1日にニューヨークで亡くなった。
